Fusion Festival Rocks Cofton Park

The end of the holiday and imminent returns to work and school were banished from the minds of thousands of rock and pop fans who enjoyed this weekend’s late summer Fusion Festival.

In the region of 60,000 fans were expected at Birmingham’s Cofton Park over the weekend to enjoy the show which was featuring some of the best acts in pop.

Dizzee Rascal topped Saturday’s bill with former The Voice judge Jesse J headlining on Sunday.

Also taking part yesterday were rap star Pitbull, girl band Neon Jungle, vocalist Elyar Fox and X Factor star Luke Friend.

Grammy award-winning Foxes, boy bands Lawson and Union J, and urban act Fuse ODG and The Wanted were performing ahead of Jessie J today.

And everyone buying tickets has helped young people get a break and support.

For Fusion Festival, sponsored by Capital FM, supports The Prince’s Trust, with £5 from every ticket going to the charity that helps young people turn their lives around.

Expectations were high for this year’s show after the success of last year’s event.

There were overcast skies and occasional mizzling rain on Saturday, but the festival fans barely noticed the weather.

And more sunshine was on the cards for those enjoying day two of the show today.

Festival spokesman Mike Owen said “After an incredible Fusion Festival last year we know the appetite for great events in this area is massive.

“We have been inundated since the last festival with pleas to repeat the event and it is so exciting to be in the same fantastic venue.

“Cofton Park must be one of the best outdoor venues in the UK and 2014 will be better than ever.”

Residents near the Cofton Park venue in the B31 and B45 postcodes were able to buy tickets at half price.
